“Selfie-Discipline” #30 – Sort Memorabilia

Today is the last day in our monthlong series of “Selfie-Disciplines.” This last habit is worth doing about once a year, not only for organizing purposes, but also for your pleasure!

Everyone has memorabilia. It is wise to keep a small number of items that connect you to your past. I suggest every family member have a memorabilia box into which you can drop things that come in during the year.

Periodically, either once a year, or when the box gets full, dump it out and have a look. Often, things we saved a few years back have lost their emotional impact over time.

The goal is to use the box as a natural boundary to help you decide how much to keep. A small assortment of treasures will be opened and enjoyed, but 20 boxes piled in an attic will probably never be touched. If you have a true collection (i.e. a variety of one item), try to get it out of the box and out on display.

Curating your memorabilia is the best way to ensure it brings you happiness for years to come.

Do you have a memorabilia box (or two)? When is the last time you looked through it?

    1. Plus, you have the added benefit of enjoying your memorabilia, which is why you kept it in the first place! Thanks for reading and commenting all month, Tamara!

  1. I DO HAVE A BOX-IN FACT SEVERAL. I AM NOT GOOD AT GETTING RID OF THESE THINGS. I’LL THINK ABOUT IT AND MAYBE ONE DAY I WILL GET A CHANCE TO DO THIS.
