The pursuit of change can be intimidating. The end game can seem very far away, and the number of steps between where we are now and where we want to be feels overwhelming. Often, we spend so much time focusing on the steepness of the staircase that we quit before we even get started.
Here is the truth: we rarely move from START to GOAL in one move. True victory comes when we tenaciously take one step – the next step – day after day. We don’t need to have all the answers or every detail figured out in advance. The challenge is simply to keep taking one step further toward the desire of our hearts.

I couldn’t agree more with you, Seana and it really does simply take one step at a time. So, thank you, my friend, for that reminder here tonight. Happy New Year once again 🙂
I think of all you have accomplished with your blog, Janine. Many small steps taken that have led to a wonderful business:)
Yes! Make the first step so easy!
Exactly… time to build a little confidence right off the bat! Then just face one step at a time, right?
So excited for this monthly theme! I’ve had this song in my head all day. I think it’s from The Cars and it’s about taking one step at a time. Plus, I love “Bird by Bird.”
I love the Cars song too:) Maybe I’ll put together a playlist of motivation songs – that would be fun!
I am reminded of the old adage: How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. One step, one bite. We got this!!
Exactly! I think it is easy to get discouraged at the beginning by trying to think too far ahead. The timing isn’t really important, it is more about establishing the consistent habits that, over whatever time, will make a big impact.
Good advice. I will try to remind yself of that when I look at my closets and drawers that need cleaning!
Those can be very rewarding. One drawer a day doesn’t feel to intimidating, and in a week or two, you are done!
