One of my favorite rooms to organize is the kitchen. I love working in this space because it is the heart of the home, and often the space where family memories are made. It’s also fun to organize the kitchen because most of the items that live in a kitchen aren’t terribly sentimental: pitching old relish isn’t exactly emotionally wrenching. Being as organized and productive as possible in the kitchen translates into saved time and energy. If you want to improve your flow in the kitchen, here are some kitchen productivity tips to make your life easier.

  1. What fun videos and tips! Binder clips are the best and have many uses beyond clipping papers together. I like your take on using them with rubber gloves. There are clips integrated with a hook, which work well and eliminate the need for the binder clip. I used a magnetic one inside a metal cabinet, which required zero installation.

Your pre-made coffee signs or labels are great, too. Like you, I use something similar to cue my guests about caf, decaf, and hot water decanters. I label the actual decanter. Thank you, P-Touch label maker.

And those coffee filters! I love the idea of using them to reduce microwave splatter. Recently, I replaced my paper coffee filters with a reusable gold filter. I got rid of the paper filters, but now I’m sorry I did because I could have used them as you suggested.

    1. I started using the coffee filters because I had some leftover from an old coffee pot that uses a different size filter. Now I love having them around. They are also handy for cleaning windows because they don’t leave any lint, and for lining the bottom of pots so no dirt falls through the hole at the bottom. Plus, they are so cheap!

Love that magnetic clip idea. I don’t have anything magnetic in my house, but I do have some of those specialty clips with a hook. I have them in my laundry room to hang things to dry. It’s so fun when you come across a simple tool that really makes life better, right?

  2. Great Tips, Seana.
I use binder clips all over the place. They are good in so many different ways. I hadn’t thought of pre-made labels for often asked questions – great idea!
The kitchen is the place where many different things happen so having some tips to save people time and to avoid frustration is wonderful!
    Your videos are great!

    1. There are a couple of things that having pre-made labels for saves me time and thought. It was so sweet of my daughter to make me those signs, and I pull them out more than I would have ever thought!

  3. I especially love the early chopping trick and the binder clip hack. I’ll definitely try that with my partner’s rubber gloves such a clever idea!

  4. Great tips! My wife has assigned kitchen decluttering to me this weekend because she says I do almost all of the cooking and cluttering in the area. I honestly didn’t know how to go about clearing it up because it was so small, I didn’t think anything could be done. But your tips have definitely allowed me to see things in a new perspective. so thanks for that!

  5. These are really great tips—thank you! My wife put me in charge of decluttering the kitchen this weekend since I’m apparently the main culprit behind the mess. I always thought the space was too small to really organize, but your advice gave me a whole new perspective. Do you have any suggestions for maintaining that clutter-free vibe once everything’s sorted out?
