Digital Declutter Day 7: Unplug

The Digital Decluttter

Part of letting go of digital clutter involves giving yourself a break from digital stimuli. Each Sunday the challenge is to step away from all devices. This week we will begin with one hour. During this hour, do not check your phone, look at the computer, or even watch a movie on an iPad.

Turn it all off or plug it all in to charge and pursue another activity:

  • Read a book or magazine
  • Go for a walk
  • Work on a craft project
  • Go out for a coffee
  • Visit a friend
  • Call someone on a landline
  • Exercise
  • Go for a drive
  • Pray
  • Sleep

It doesn’t matter what you do, just be sure you are completely separated from your devices (where you won’t be tempted to check them). Today you only need to step back for one hour, but in the coming weeks we’ll be increasing the amount of time.

One hour is pretty easy, right? Will you try it? Let me know what you did with the time and whether you found it refreshing.

    1. Yes, football is on a screen:) And that is relaxing… but at least don’t be on your phone while watching, right? I think a large percentage of people now watch TV while using other devices at the same time!

  1. I did it for a DAY! Yesterday. Magical. I was close to doing it today too but the kids are having downtime and I wanted to catch up on blog reading. Which is as good as a book or magazine, right??

    1. You unplugged for a whole day? I’m over here cheering you on! It really is magical… incredible what a mental break it provides. You are my hero now:)
